Step 1: Use Revenue Service (ROS)

The tax filer can be registered with ROS if it is their first time. For existing ROS users, they can login by loading their ROS cert and enter their password.

Step 2: Make use of FORM 11 created by ROS

There is a prepopulated form developed by Revenue which shows income from different sources. You can select only relevant source from which income was derived. For example, if you have income from renting a property there is section for that which is pre populated. Only the relevant boxes must be filled out.

Insert the details of income and expenses /allowances arise in the relevant tax year.

Your medical expenses allow to reduce your tax and this can be inserted in allowances & deductions section.

Step 3: Make your self-assessment

The form 11 has a capability to compute your tax once all the basic info is entered in the relevant sections. At first glance it looks very detailed but only relevant tabs on the right must be selected and within these tabs, relevant information is inserted.

After ROS calculated tax liability you can review if it is in line with your expectations or consult with the tax specialist if you find out it is not in line with your own calculations.

When you have completed the form click on the ‘Sign and Submit’ tab.

You may have a surcharge, due under Section 1084, because of non-compliance with Local Property Tax (LPT). If you do, you must enter the amount at (g) of the self-assessment panel.

Enter the details in complete your ‘Statement of Net Liabilities’ and pay on ROS.

Step 5: Submit your return in ROS

ROS requires a password before you submit your return. Click on the ‘Sign and Submit’ box to send the return to Revenue.
