Identified Person Number (IPN)

Company Incorporation Simplified

identified person number

Every director requires Personal Public Service Number (PPSN) or a Register of Beneficial Ownership Number (RBO) or an Identified Person Number (IPN) for incorporation of new company.

An IPN number, or Identified Person Number, is issued by the Irish government to non-resident directors of companies residing in Ireland. It serves as a means of identification for these individuals. Unlike the PPS (Personal Public Service) number, which is only issued to Irish residents, the IPN is not enrolled in social and public state systems.

“Identified Person Number” is essentially a special ID given to people associated in commencing a company. Here’s how we can clarify:

  1. Easy Registration: We’ll make it a breeze for you to sign up and get your special ID. We’ll guide you clearly through the process on a website that’s easy to use.
  2. Apply Online: You can apply for this ID on the internet. No need for filling out lots of paperwork.
  3. Quick Checks: We’ll quickly check to make sure the information you give us is correct and that you really are who you say you are.
  4. One Big List: All the ID numbers will be kept in one safe place so everyone can find them easily.
  5. Keep it Safe: We’ll make sure your ID is kept safe and can’t be seen by anyone who shouldn’t see it.
  6. Connect the Dots: We’ll connect your ID with other important systems to make things run smoothly.
  7. Up to date Facility: We’ll let you know how things are going and if there’s anything else you need to do.
  8. We’re Here to Help: If you have any questions or need help, just ask us. We’re here for you.

To meet the prerequisites for establishing a new company, the director is required to submit either the PPS, IPN, or RBO number.

  1. If a director already has a Personal Public Service Number (PPSN), they should go ahead and use it.
  2. If a director doesn’t have a PPSN, they can use an RBO number instead. An RBO number would have been given if they were previously registered as a beneficial owner or shareholder in an Irish company.
  3. If a director doesn’t have a PPSN or an RBO number, then they’ll need to apply for an IPN.
  4. long with the application form, you may need to provide supporting documentation such as identification documents (e.g., passport or driver’s license) to verify your identity.

Chargeable Penalties

Failure to fulfil the requirements or lack of a registered PPS, IPN, or RBO number by the director will result in being charged with a category four offense, accompanied by a penalty of €5,000.

How to get IPN?

To obtain the IPN, individuals must fill out the VIF form, which stands for Verification of Identity, accessible on the CRO website. This form requires the director’s personal information for completion. Once the form is submitted, the IPN will be sent electronically via email.
